Solution

Definition of energy

Energy:- The ability or capacity of doing work is known as energy. It may exist in potential, kinetic, thermal, electrical, chemical, nuclear, or other various forms.

Types of mechanical energy

There are two types of mechanical energy-

  1. Potential Energy

2. Kinetic Energy

Definition of Potential Energy

  1. Potential energy: An object's energy due to its location or position is called potential energy.

For example, A car is parked at the top of a hill. Stored energy depends upon the relative position of various parts of a system. Spring has more potential energy when it is compressed or stretched. A steel ball has more potential energy raised above the ground than it has after falling to Earth.

Definition of Kinetic Energy

2. Kinetic energy; The energy of an object is due to its motion.

For example, Any object in motion uses kinetic energy: a person walking, a thrown baseball, a crumb falling from a table, and a charged particle in an electric field are all examples of kinetic energy at work.

It is a form of energy that an object or a particle has because of its motion. If work, which transfers energy, is done on an object by applying a net force, the object speeds up and gains kinetic energy.
