Hydrophily is the term given to pollination occurred by water. Some plants distribute their pollen to the surface of water (eg Vallisneria's pollen grains are released on the surface of water, which are carried by water currents passively) and some plants distribute pollens beneath the surface of water (eg seagrasses in which female flower remain submerged in water and pollen grains are released inside water).
Water pollinated flowers are colourless, small, without nectar and fragrance. The pollen grains are light but covered with wax in order to prevent from wetting.
