What do you mean by hyroxyl group? Explain by giving an example.

Hydroxyl group is (-OH) functional group.
When the hydroxyl group is the dominant functional group in a an organic compound, that compound behaves as an alcohol.
ROH, wehre R= CH₃, CH₃OH is,methanol
R = CH₃CH₂ , CH₃CH₂OH is ethanol and so on
