What do you mean by metal oxides are 'ionic' in nature ?
(Does this only mean that metal oxides produce ion?)

Dear Student

Ionic in nature means the bonds between the metal and oxygen are such that electrons are pulled towards O from the metal. It does not necessarily mean that they will produce ions but they can surely.
