Calcium nitrate, Zinc sulphate, Ammonium carbonate, Aluminium oxide, Ammonium hydroxide

Open in App
Solution

  • The symbolic representation of the molecule of a compound is known as its molecular formula.
  • The molecular formula of the given compounds can be determined by knowing the symbols and the valencies of the elements or the radicals participating.

Calcium nitrate

CaNO3+2-1

On interchanging the valencies the molecular formula of the compound comes out to be Ca(NO3)2

Zinc sulphate

ZnSO4+2-2

On interchanging the valencies the molecular formula of the compound comes out to be ZnSO4

Ammonium carbonate

NH4CO3+1-2

On interchanging the valencies the molecular formula of the compound comes out to be (NH4)2CO3

Aluminium oxide

AlO+3-2

On interchanging the valencies the molecular formula of the compound comes out to be Al2O3

Ammonium hydroxide

NH4OH+1-1

On interchanging the valencies the molecular formula of the compound comes out to be Al2O3
