The permeability of a membrane is the property of membrane by virtue of which it allows only selective substance to pass through it. The selection is based on various factors like size, charge, solubility and saturation.
Cell wall is the simplest example of a permeable membrane which allows all types of water, free ions and substance that are soluble in water.
