Water pollution: The pollution in which water from the water bodies like rivers, lakes, oceans etc. becomes contaminated as a result of contaminants or pollutants being released in water is called as water pollution.

• Water is said to be polluted when there is a shift in any physical, chemical or biological properties of water that negatively impacts the health of the organisms.
• The chemicals present in these wastes often harm the plants and the animals which live in these water bodies or consume this water in one way or the other.
