Solution

Dear Student,

A pressure group is defined as a group of people who are actively organised to promote and defend their common interests. It is named so because these groups try to bring a change in the government policies by putting pressure on the government. These pressure groups are different from political parties, as they neither contest elections nor they aim to capture political power. The pressure groups are social organisations, voluntary organisations such as the NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations) who are part of the civil society. The pressure groups try to influence policy making and policy implementation of the government through legal or democratic means such as conducting protests, meetings, demonstrations, etc.
