Dear student,
Sexually transmitted diseases are those diseases which get transferred from one individual to another through sexual contact.
Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), a sexually transmitted disease, damages the immune system of the human body.
The diseases that are transmitted or caused by having the sexual relationship are known as sexually transmitted diseases or STDs. Diseases like Gonorrhea, syphilis, candidiasis, HIV infection etc are all STDs. There is no restricted age for this disease. Starting from teenage till death whenever a person comes in contact with an infected person, he or she may get the infection. But the age of 20 to 24 is highly susceptible to this disease.
Avoiding sexual contacts with unknown persons and having safe sex by using condoms can reduce the changes of causing these sexually transmitted diseases.
STD's can be prevented by:
1 By avoiding having sex with infected or any unknown people
2 Sharing of needles, syringes should be stopped
3 Blood transfusion from an infected person must be avoided. Blood must be properly tested before transfusion.
4 Adequate medical treatment should be provided to the pregnant women to protect the child from getting infected.
