2. Standard units are important because they do not change from person to person and one gets the same measurement irrespective of the person doing the measurement.

Characteristics of standard unit:-

1. It should be easily understandable.
2. It should be changed with changes in physical factors.
3. It should not change with place or time.
4. It should be easily duplicated.
