• The revolution associated with a sharp increase in milk production in the country is called the White Revolution. In India, it is also referred to as Operation Flood.
• ​ The intention of the White revolution was to make India a self-dependent nation in milk production. Today, India is the world’s largest producer of milk.​ ​
• Dr Varghese Kurian was the chairman of the National Dairy Development Board when the white revolution was implemented. With the cooperation and consideration of the management skills of this man, the revolution achieved a grand success. Hence, he is regarded as the pioneer of the white revolution.​
