Explain the 3 patterns
Dendritic patterns
Trellis patterns
Radial patterns
Solution:
Every river stream within a drainage basin forms a certain pattern in which it flows. These patterns are known as the river patterns or the patterns of drainage systems.
Dendritic patterns:
In this pattern, the river flows along the slope of the terrain resembling the tree branches. The Ganga and the Brahmaputra rivers are examples of dendritic patterns in India.
Trellis patterns:
This pattern is usually made where the hard rock and soft rock exist separately. Here, the tributaries of the river pass through soft rocks and then join the main river always at right angles. The streams flowing from the upper part of the Himalayan region are an example of a trellis pattern in India.
Radial patterns:
In this pattern, the river flows from a central peak point or mountain in all directions.
