When an object moves in a line in such a way that every point of the object moves through the same distance in the same interval of time, the motion of the object is called translatory motion.
The motion in which all points of a moving body are uniformly in the same line or direction is called translatory motion.
There are two types of translatory motion.
(a) Rectilinear motion: When an object moves along a straight line, its motion is called rectilinear motion. Example: A ball rolling on the ground in a straight path.
(b)Curvilinear motion: When an object moves along a curved path, its motion is called curvilinear motion. Example: A stone or ball thrown by a boy.
