(a) FeSO4, (b) Iron (III) chloride,

(c) Lead nitrate, (d) Zinc nitrate ?

Open in App
Solution

(a) FeSO4 + 2NH4OH (NH4)2SO4 + Fe(OH)2
A dull green precipitate of ferrous hydroxide is formed.

(b) FeCl3 +3NH4OH 3(NH4)Cl + Fe(OH)3
With ferric chloride ammonia forms brown precipitate of ferric hydroxide.

(c) Pb(NO3)2 + 2NH4OH Pb(OH)2 + 2NH4NO3
White precipitate of lead(II) hydroxide is formed.

(d) Zn(NO3)2 + 2NH4OH 2NH4NO3 + Zn(OH)2
A white precipitate of zinc hydroxide is formed.
This dissolves in excess ammonium hydroxide.
Zn(OH)2 + 4NH4OH [Zn(NH3)4](OH)2 + 4H2O
