A white precipitate of silver chloride will be formed when Hydrogen chloride gas is passed through silver nitrate.
$2 H C l + 2 A g N O_{3} \to 2 A g C l + 2 H N O_{3}$

The reaction between AgCl and NH4OH will result in the products of $A g (N H 3)_{2}^{+}$ and $C l^{-}$ ions.

$A g C l + 2 N H_{4} O H \to A g (N H 3)_{2} C l + H_{2} O$
