Lack of access to proper sanitation facilities would impact women and girls acutely because the would easily fall prey to diseases due to their less immune capacity compared to men. They are the ones who are more prone to health risks as they have to work under unhygienic conditions and drink contaminated water which can be detrimental to women’s menstrual and maternal health. Risks of serious illnesses such as hepatitis and hookworm infestations in pregnant women are decreased by access to safe water and sanitation facilities.
