In case of lighter nuclei like Lithium (Li), almost all the alpha-particles will pass straight through the Lithium foil.

• This is because being a lighter nuclei, it will not create much of an obstacle in the way of the alpha-particles and fast moving alpha-particles might push these nuclei aside.
