Precipitation is a reaction in which two compounds in an aqueous state react to form an insoluble salt as one of the products. The insoluble salt formed is known as precipitate. Example: When ferrous sulphate solution is added to sodium hydroxide solution, a dirty green precipitate is formed. This is an example of a precipitation reaction That is,
FeSO4(aq)+2NaOH(aq)Fe(OH)2+Na2SO4(aq)
