  • Like any other resource, population is also considered as a ‘human resource.’
  • A way of referring to a country’s working people from the perspective of their abilities and existing productive skills is the meaning of ‘people as a resource.’
  • People as a resource have the ability to create and contribute to the Gross National Product, this is a very important perspective of looking at the population in a very productive way.
  • When people think of a large population, there is a general tendency to look at the negative side like providing healthcare, education, food, clothing, shelter. Looking at a large population as a human resource, is a positive way of looking at things.
  • Just like ‘physical capital formation’, ‘human capital formation’ builds on the productive capabilities of the country. This happens when healthcare and education is provided which helps in additional and more development of the already existing human resource.
