Range of hearing in humans:

  1. Hearing in humans means the range of frequencies that a human being can hear. Normal human hearing encompasses frequencies from 20Hz to 20kHz. Although, this range changes with the age of the humans. Animals have hearing ranges different from that of humans.
  2. Sounds of frequency less than 20 Hz is not audible by normal human being and is known as infrasonic sound.
  3. Sounds of frequency greater than 20 kHz is also not audible by normal human being and is known as ultrasonic sound.
  4. Human ear is most sensitive around the frequency of 2000 Hz to 3000 Hz. In this range it can hear a very low intensity of sound.
