Solution

Simple pendulum:

  1. A simple pendulum is a mechanical arrangement that demonstrates periodic motion.
  2. An ideal pendulum consists of a heavy particle suspended from rigid support by a weightless and in-extensible string.

Amplitude(A) of a simple pendulum:

  1. The maximum displacement of the bob on either side of the mean position is called amplitude.
  2. In the given figure AB or AC is the amplitude.
  3. It is generally denoted by the letter A.
  4. It is measured in cm or mm.

Hence, the amplitude is the maximum displacement of the bob on either side of the mean position.
