  1. When a body is wholly or partly immersed in a fluid, it experiences an upward thrust opposite to the direction of the weight of the body.
  2. The upward thrust acting on the body immersed in the fluid is called “buoyant force”.
  3. Buoyant force acting on the body is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body.
  4. Buoyant force is a key parameter to check whether a body will float or sink in a fluid.
  5. If the buoyant force is equal to or greater than the weight of the body, the body won't sink into the fluid.
