Instructions: Define Preamble and how it is important to our Indian Constitution. Give the key terms of the Preamble in the Constitution.
Solution: The Constitution of the Republic of India is introduced to us through a wisely formulated Preamble. It is an introductory part of the Constitution though not an operative part of the constitution. The Preamble has great importance because of the fact that it not only declares the form of the provisions but also the main objectives of the Indian Republic
The Preamble reads:
We, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all citizens
JUSTICE, social, economic and political;
LIBERTY of thought, expression, faith and worship;
EQUALITY of status, and of opportunity: and to promote among them all;
FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the Unity and Integrity of the Nation
