Matter exists in three states:
Solid, Liquid, and Gas
Solids: (a) Solids have a definite shape.
(b) Solids have a definite volume.
(c) Solids do not flow. They can be heaped.
(d) Solids do not need a container to hold them.
From the above properties, a solid can be defined as
Any material which has a definite shape and definite volume can have any number of free surfaces and is called solid.
