Solution

Thermal effect of electric current - The transformation of electric energy to heat energy is called thermal effect of electric current.
The substances of a conductor is made up of atoms. In a metallic conductor, there are a large number of free electron moving with different velocity. When electric current flows through the conductor, the free electrons collide with their atoms sue to which number of electrons increase and the major portion of Kinetic energy gets converted to heat energy and the temperature of the conductor increases. heating effect of current is used in home appliances like heater, iron, water heater, oven, etc.
