Part 1: Matter

  1. Anything that has a mass and occupies space is known as Matter. In general, matter exists in three types. i.e, Solid, Liquid, and gas.

Part 2: Properties of Solids

  1. Solid has a definite volume as well as a definite shape.
  2. The intermolecular force of attraction in solid particles is very strong which makes it stronger.
  3. Solids do not compress because they have very less spacing between the particles.
  4. Solid do not occupy the space or shape of container.
  5. As the articles are fixed at their positions so they are rigid in nature.
  6. The diffusion rate of solids is very slow.
  7. For example, paper, stone, wood, eraser, pencil,etc.
