  1. Electron is the part of an atom that is negatively charged.
  2. The atom also consists of a positive charge inside the nucleus and therefore to balance the positive charge the atom is surrounded by negatively charged electrons.
  3. Electrons also play an important role in the formation of bonds, and such a type of bonding is called electrovalent bonding.
  4. Electrovalent bonds are formed by the complete transfer of electrons whereas covalent bonds are formed by sharing of electrons.
  5. Electrons are also used in circuits and wires to produce electricity.
