Solution

LH (Luteinizing hormone):

  1. Luteinizing hormone (LH, also known as lutropin) is a hormone produced by the gonadotropic cells of the anterior pituitary gland.
  2. In women, an acute increase in LH ("LH surge") stimulates ovulation and corpus luteum development.
  3. In males, LH is also known as interstitial cell-stimulating hormone (ICSH), it stimulates the production of testosterone by Leydig cells.
  4. It works synergistically with follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).
