Negative regulation:

  1. Inhibitors that prevent transcription by inactivating promoters are present in cells/systems. This inhibitor is called a repressor.
  2. A producer is required to start transcription. The inducer acts as an antagonist of the repressor.
  3. In negative regulations, the absence of the product increases enzyme synthesis and the presence of the product decreases synthesis.
