Solution

The correct option is D Synthesis of ATP
Photorespiration refers to the loss of carbon dioxide fixed by plants. It occurs in presence of light in C3 plants. It does not lead to synthesis of ATP but leads to loss of carbon dioxide and ammonia. Hence, it is a wasteful process. Photorespiration is a result of oxygenase activity of RUBISCO enzyme. The oxygenase activity results in combination of oxygen with Ribulose 1,5 bisphosphate instead of carbon dioxide.
So, the correct answer is 'Synthesis of ATP'
