Follicles:

  1. These are cellular aggregations found inside the ovary that release hormones and the egg released by the ovary.
  2. It also releases the hormone progesterone in a higher amount and estrogen in a lower amount.
  3. Follicles are stimulated by the production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) by the pituitary gland.
  4. Follicles have varying morphology at different stages of the menstrual cycle.
