Open in App
Solution

Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH):

  1. It is a gonadotropin hormone secreted from the anterior pituitary.
  2. FSH stimulates spermatogenesis and controls the production of sperm in males.
  3. FSH helps control the menstrual cycle and stimulates the growth of eggs in the ovaries in females.
  4. FSH levels in women change throughout the menstrual cycle, with the highest levels happening just before an egg is released by the ovary.
  5. FSH stimulates granulosa cells in the ovarian follicles to synthesize aromatase, which converts androgens produced by the thecal cells to estradiol.
