Stomach:

It is a sac-like muscular organ located directly underneath the liver, that is, on the upper-left side of the abdomen.

The functions of the stomach:

  1. The prime objective of the stomach is to store and digest the food and transmit it to the small intestine.
  2. The stomach temporarily stores the food.
  3. It relaxes and contracts to mix and dissociate the food.
  4. It generates enzymes and hydrochloric acid, which helps in the digestion of foreign particles and food.
