Visceral nervous system:

  1. It is a part of the peripheral nervous system.
  2. It comprises the entire complex of nerves, ganglia, fibers, and plexuses through which impulses move from the central nervous system (CNS) to the viscera and from the viscera to the CNS.
  3. The visceral nervous system controls the autonomic functions of the body such as heart rate, respiration, digestive secretions, sexual arousal, flight to fight responses, and reflex actions, such as coughing, vomiting, swallowing, etc.
