What does these lines mean- the fact that a small source of light casts a sharp shadow of an opaque object points to this straight line path of light, usually indicated as a ray of light.

experiment to show light travels in straight lines.

Take 3 card boards.light a candle.Make a pinhole in center and place it in a line.

Try to see the candle light from the one pinhole. If all pinholes are linear, you will be able to see the flame.

But if the middle card is moved little bit,you wont be able to see the flame.

this means light travell in straight line.
