Open in App
Solution

More often, plants get rid of excess water by the process of transpiration. In transpiration, water gets lost in the form of water vapours. Guttation is another phenomena which is exhibited by plants. In this, water is lost from the xylem sap on the leaf tips through the special structures called hydathodes in the form of liquid. Excess salts present in the plant cannot be removed through transpiration. They are removed by the process of guttation because in guttation water is removed in the form of drops alongwith which excess salts can also be removed.
