Fracture:

A fracture is a break or crack in a bone.

If you suspect a person has a fracture, do the following:

  1. Immediate help is administered to an injured person before taking him/her to the doctor or nearby hospital.
  2. To prevent the movement of the injured part, wrap a sling (a band of cloth used to support a broken bone) on it.
  3. Apply ice packs to reduce the swelling and relieve pain.
  4. In the case of a leg fracture, limit the movement of the foot and ankle.
  5. In the case of a broken bone in the neck or back. make the person stay as still as possible till medical help arrives.
