$\therefore \text{Fraction}=\frac{5}{8}$

The second part of the figure has a circle divided into 8 parts and 7 parts of it are shaded.

$\therefore \text{Fraction}=\frac{7}{8}$

$\text{Sum}=\frac{5}{8}+\frac{7}{8}=\frac{5+7}{8}=\frac{12}{8}$

But, $\frac{12}{8}=\frac{12÷4}{8÷4}=\frac{3}{2}.$

$\therefore$ The required sum is $\frac{3}{2}.$
