Genes inherited from mother:

1. Human beings have two copies of each chromosome, one is inherited through the egg by the mother and the other through the sperm by the father.
2. Both egg and a sperm are haploid in nature and each have one set of 23 chromosomes.
3. When fertilization occurs, two copies of each chromosome comes together and hence the formation of the embryo.
4. During this process, mother is responsible for inheriting the Mitochondrial DNA.
