During reproduction of an offspring the female egg and the male sperm undergo fertilization.
Females are homogametic i.e. having only one type of gamete (22+X) while males are heterogametic i.e. having different types of gametes (22+X) and (22+Y).
The sex of the offspring is determined at the time of fertilization and ony male has the role in determining the sex of the baby.
Thus, the son receives X-linked gene from the mother and Y-linked gene from the father.
And the daughter receives X-linked gene from the mother and the father as well.
