what happen to diaphram when intercoastal muscles co
ntract

Open in App
Solution

When we breathe in air, the size of our chest cavity increases. This happens because when air enters the lungs, they expand and the inter coastal muscles contract by which ribs move outwards. Simultaneously, the diaphragm contracts and becomes flat. Thus, when the inter coastal muscles between ribs contract, the diaphragm also contracts and becomes flat.
