Solution

When gold is dissolved in aqua regia, it forms chloroauric acid (HAuCl4). The chemical reaction shows gold reacting with both components of aqua regia: nitric acid (HNO3) and hydrochloric acid (HCl).

In this reaction gold is oxidised.
