What happened to black peppered moth during industrial revolution?

Solution

Industrial melanisation of moths:

A prime example of moth population-directed colour change is the peppered moth's evolution as a result of air pollution during the Industrial Revolution.

  1. Dark-coloured moths, a symptom of industrial melanism, were more widespread at the time.
  2. Rather of creating the black colour mutation, the sooty conditions of the Industrial Revolution created an excellent setting for black moths to thrive.
  3. Tree trunks with white lichens turned dark as a result of the smoke and soot in the air in England during the industrialization period.
  4. Predators couldn't see dark-coloured moths in the smoke, so they lived.
  5. As a result, the number of naturally selected dark-coloured moths increased.
