Question

What happens if decomposers are removed from the food web ?

Open in App
Solution

Decomposers have a very significant role in a food web. In their absence, dead organic matter will pile up and nutrient recycling will be inhibited. This will reduce the nutrient availability to the producers and subsequently, to the consumers. This will disrupt the functioning of the whole food web and also the ecosystem.
