Question

What happens if we immediately place a plasmolyzed cell in a hypotonic solution

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student
When the cell is placed in a hypertonic solution the water from cell come out through cytoplasm and vacuole . Because hypertonic solution means it has less concentration of water than the cell so water comes from higher to lower concentration. This is called plasmolysis. When the plasmolysed cell is kept in hypotonic solution cell swells up due to inward movement of water by osmosis.
Thank you
