When Acetone is added to water, water acts as solvent and Acetone as solute.
On mixing Acetone and water, Acetone will completely dissolve in water.
The mixture formed will also be homogenous and no two layers will be formed.
The mixture will not give rise to an azeotropic mixture and will be easily separated by the distillation process due to the difference in their boiling points.
Azeotropic mixture is the binary mixture having the same composition in the liquid and vapor phase and boiling at a constant temperature. In such cases, these are not separated by fractional distillation.
Therefore, on mixing Acetone in water homogeneous solution is formed.
