Question

What happens to a metal ball when it is heated? What does it show?

Open in App
Solution

A metal ball is a solid in the state, when it is heated there is an increase in volume.

The observation shows that all matter, including solid, liquid and gas, expands on heating but contracts on cooling.

On heating the intermolecular force of attraction weakens as the molecules vibrate in fast movements and the intermolecular space between molecules also increases.
