Mostfreshwater fishwill die shortly after being released insaltwater. Their bodies can't tolerate the salinity. There is a category offishcalled euryhaline, which can survive in both salt andfreshwater. Striped bass, salmon, bull shark, American eel, rainbow and brown trout come immediately to mind.
