Question

What happens to image distance in the eye when we increase the distance of an object from the eye?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Image formation in the eye

  1. According to the distance of an object the eye lens shape changes.
  2. The eye lens shape changes in such a way that the retina is always where the image forms.
  3. The size of the lens decreases such that the focal length of the eye increases and the image is formed at the retina.

Step 2: Object at a distance

Thus, if the object is too far, the focal length of the lens is adjusted accordingly and the image will form on the retina.
