Question

What happens to inertia when velocity is doubled?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Inertia is the phenomenon in which an object will continue to be in the state of rest or in a state of motion unless an external force acts on it.
  2. Change in velocity does not affect inertia, inertia is dependent on the mass of the body.
  3. As the velocity is doubled, momentum will be doubled.
  4. The mass will remain constant.

Hence, there will be no change in inertia if the velocity is doubled.
